Abstract From the Canadian patent

This application concerns a thermoplastic container for liquid-to-pasty products; the container comprises at least one longitudinal strip (108) of a different colour or appearance than the rest of the container or of both a different colour and appearance than the rest of the container and delimited by two lateral edges. The lateral edges of the longitudinal strip(s) are located roughly inside longitudinal grooves so as to conceal the variations in the width of the strip.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 6, 1997 and granted July 31, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 6, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 6, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
