A series of non-opaque containers, each containing a fluid of different viscosity, is used at ambient room temperature to mimic the flow characteristics of reference fluids at pre-determined non-ambient characteristic. Each container may contain a ball such that on, inverting the container, the balls are drawn by gravity through the fluids at different rates, the rates demonstrating the viscosity of the reference fluid.

Why it's free to use
- Filed September 12, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended September 12, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 12, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
