This invention concerns a new composition in the form of an oil-in-water liquid emulsion (O/W) for topical application consisting of between 30% and 50% by weight in relation to the total weight of the composition of at least one glycol an appropriate emulsifying system and at least one active agent. The liquid composition according to the invention, has a viscosity preferably, of between 3 and 10 Pas (3,000 and 10,000 cP) viscosity measured with a Brookfield viscometer model LVDV II + mobile No. 4, at a speed of 30 rpm for 30 seconds and a temperature of 25°C +/- 3°C. The high glycol content promotes the penetration of the active agent into the skin.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 19, 1997 and granted July 2, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 19, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 19, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
