Abstract From the Canadian patent

A processing method to prepare and purity carbide-lime a waste product from the manufacture of acetylene from calcium carbide, for use as a filler and extender in resin and polymer compounds and thermoplastic compositions, filled with such carbide lime are disclosed. The process comprises an economic method of size reduction classification and two-stage drying, with reduced surface carbonation which produces a fine, dry, free-flowing powder comparable to conventional ground mineral fillers used in thermoplastics and which may be compounded, into resins and polymers in the normal way. The process can convert lumpy or slurried carbide lime having 5 to 60% moisture to a powder having a …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 2, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 2, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 2, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
