Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention relates to a tree harvester for felling limbing and cross-cutting tree trunks, comprising a limbing head (15) and felling head (16) assembly which is carried by a boom system. The limbing head (15) and the felling head (16) are detachably connectable to one another and are commonly pivotal about a point (21) on the boom system in conjunction with a tree felling operation. The limbing head (15) and the felling head (16) can be moved away from one another along the boom system (10 18) in conjunction with a tree-trunk limbing and cross-cutting operation, and also in different directions away from the location on the boom system at which they are commonly pivotal.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 24, 1995 and granted May 2, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 24, 2015.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 24, 2017.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
