An electronically controlled wastegate valve is adjusted so that the pressure drop across a throttle in the engine approaches an adaptively generated, desired throttle pressure reserve value. The desired throttle pressure, reserve value is based at least in part on a history of the engine load. In the, preferred embodiment, the engine speed is used as a surrogate for engine load to determine the desired throttle pressure reserve value. The desired throttle pressure reserve value is preferably pushed downward over time by use of a constant negative gain term in the electronic controller. Why it's free to use
- Filed August 14, 1997 and granted March 25, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 14, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 14, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
