Abstract From the Canadian patent

A control arrangement and method for controlling a gain and phase adjuster used for controlling the gain and phase of a compensation signal for compensating for the distortion produced by a power amplifier is disclosed. The control arrangement makes use of a reference signal of, known frequency, which is amplified along with the desired carrier signals. The reference signal component of the amplified signal is then isolated and a comparison is made either with the actual reference signal e.g. by a QAM, demodulator, or alternatively with the known frequency of the reference signal, e.g. by a FM discriminator in order, to determine the differences in gain and in phase of the reference signal …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed July 23, 1997 and granted October 9, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended July 23, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 23, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
