A process for treating oils and solvents contaminated by radioactive substances includes a step of subjecting the oils and solvents to the action of pre-selected micro--organisms in the presence of air and a very large volume of water, relative to the volume of oils and solvents to be treated. The micro-organisms destroy organic molecules and in particular transform them into CO2 and H2O. Further steps of the process include preparing a predetermined volume of water having predetermined characteristics of dissolved oxygen concentration, pH and redox potential and adding a predetermined charge of oils and solvents contaminated by radioactive substances to this volume of water, the …

Why it's free to use
- Filed February 12, 1996 and granted October 9, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 12, 2016.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 12, 2018.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
