A method is provided for cooling a high temperature superconductor such as an oxide superconductor to a lower temperature at a lower cost with a more simple system. A superconducting coil is attached to a cooling stage of a refrigerator. By immersing the superconducting coil on the cooling stage in liquid nitrogen, the superconducting coil is cooled rapidly. Then, the superconducting coil is further cooled by the refrigerator. By the cooling operation of the refrigerator, the liquid nitrogen is solidified. Thus, the superconducting coil is surrounded with solidifed nitrogen. The superconducting coil covered with the solidified nitrogen is further cooled by the refrigerator. In the …

Why it's free to use
- Filed July 16, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended July 16, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 16, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
