Arrangements are disclosed for the automatic absolute frequency calibration of a variable frequency optical source using an optical filter such as gas cell or a calibrated interferometer providing resonances at known frequencies in the tuning range of the source. The above calibration is performed by a control unit which has a knowledge of the known transmission pattern of the optical filter. This unit scans the frequency of the optical source via a frequency control signal over a frequency range and measures the optical intensity of the optical source output light after it has passed through the optical filter. The measured transmission and frequency control signal values are processed and …

Why it's free to use
- Filed July 9, 1997 and granted April 17, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended July 9, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 9, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
