In developing a receiver used for both 8-VSB system and 16-VSB system based upon the fact that there are so many common modulation parts which are commonly operated between the two systems an operation mode is automatically, switched by using the autocorrelation for operation modes of the received data without manual operation, and signals for controlling the entire system can be outputted, thereby recalizing efficiency and economy in operating the HDTV receiver.

Why it's free to use
- Filed July 7, 1997 and granted February 27, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended July 7, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 7, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
