The invention concerns an optical velocimetric detector including a means of illuminating a measuring space through which particles may pass as well as optical detection devices to produce an electrical signal x(t) in response to the passage of a particle through the illuminated space. Also includes devices to extract from the electrical signal representative data concerning the velocity v of particles and specifically to: calculate the probability density p(x,.theta.) of the signal vector x(t) and determine a frequency representing v for which the probability is maximal.

Why it's free to use
- Filed June 17, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended June 17, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 17, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
