A needleless injection dispensing cartridge is filled through its discharge orifice with the drug to be injected by use of an adaptor. The filling means for example a hypodermic syringe, is snapped off of the needleless injector cartridge after use, and the needle remains covered by the adaptor. The adaptor can comprise a pair of sleeves one of which receives the cartridge , and the other of which receives the end of the syringe. Alternatively the , role of the first of these sleeves can be assumed by the body of the cartridge itself.

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 13, 1995 and granted August 21, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 13, 2015.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 13, 2017.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
