There is disclosed herein a lithium ion battery electrode formed by the pyrolysis of a siloxane polymer of the formula, (R1R2R3SiO1/2)w(R4R5SiO)x(R6SiO3/2)y(SiO4/2)z followed by introducing lithium ions. In this formula each, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 are independently selected from hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon, w is in the range of 0 to 0.8, x is in the range of 0 to 0.9, y is in the range of 0 to 0.9, z is in the range of 0 to 1 and w + x + y + z = 1.

Why it's free to use
- Filed June 9, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended June 9, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 9, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
