ANG. The screen comprises a set of spaced parallel grating bars set at an inclination of about 35 degrees. The grating bars retain solids carried by the water flowing between the bars. These solids are automatically pushed down the bars and away into a collecting trough transverse to the bars by water streams flowing within longitudinal grooves formed from the top of the bars. The cross-sectional area of each groove decreases from the upper end to the lower end of the bar so that the, water accelerating down the bar grooves will constantly fill the same.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 30, 1997 and granted July 16, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 30, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 30, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
