The present invention provides a blue colored glass using a standard soda-lime-silica glass base composition and additionally iron and cobalt as solar radiation absorbing materials and colorants. In particular the blue colored glass includes about 0.53 to 1.1 wt.% total iron preferably about 0.6 to 0.85 wt.% and about 5 to 40 PPM CoO preferably about 15 to 30 PPM and a luminous transmittance of at least 55%. If desired, the composition may include up to about 100 PPM Cr203. The redox ratio for the glass of the present invention is maintained between about 0.25 to 0.35, preferably between about 0.28 to 0.33. The glass color is characterized by a dominant wavelength (DW) of about 485 to 491 …

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 15, 1997 and granted November 27, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 15, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 15, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
