Abstract From the Canadian patent

In order to cement UV radiation-transmitting substrates to one another rapidly and without deformation and to cement them together with high efficiency without melting an aluminum film of an information recording layer a device for bonding discs to one another is provided which has a radiant light source which irradiates the discs with radiant light which contains ultraviolet radiation at least once in a flash. A wavelength selector is placed in the optical path between the radiant light source and the discs at a distance from the discs which transmits the ultraviolet rays and absorbs light in a range of wavelengths which are absorbed by the W radiation-transmitting substrates of the discs. …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 30, 1997 and granted December 19, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 30, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 30, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
