A wideband multi-channel transmitter and receiver (transceiver) for cellular communication systems. The transceiver includes programmable digital down converters (DDCs) and programmable digital up converters (DUCs) providing a range of decimation/interpolation ratios to accommodate multiple access i.e. AMPS, NAMPS, USDC, PDC, for varying signal formats and bandwidths. The method of digitizing a wideband frequency signal used by DDCs and DUCs has application to digitizing any wideband signal occupying continuous or discontinuous spectrum while reducing sampling frequency and hardware requirements. The arrangement of elements in the transceiver allows channel processing functions to be …

Why it's free to use
- Filed December 28, 1995 and granted November 11, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 28, 2015.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 28, 2017.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
