Abstract From the Canadian patent

A hybrid photomultiplier tube includes a photocathode (130) focusing rings , (134, 136), a photodiode (132) and a collection anode (120) disposed in a detector body (110). A vacuum envelope (116) encloses a vacuum region between the photocathode (130) and the detector (110). Conductors (152 154) disposed , on or adjacent to a sidewall of the vacuum envelope (116) reduce the effect of electrical charges on the sidewall of the vacuum envelope (116) on the trajectories of electrons. An ion deflector electrode (167) is disposed adjacent to the photodiode (132) and extends photocathode operational life and improves noise factor.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 22, 1995 and granted May 29, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended November 22, 2015.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 22, 2017.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
