To provide a hypoglycemic agent and a diabetes preventing, curing or ameliorating agent which exert, excellent pharmaceutical effects. A hypoglycemic agent and a diabetes preventing curving or ameliorating agent, each of which comprises as an active ingredient a quinone derivative represented by the following general formula (I) or pharmacologically acceptable salts thereof: (see fig.I), wherein n is 0 or an integer of 1 to 12 and R is a methyl or methoxy group.
