The present invention concerns polypeptide analogs of a potent mitogen of nonfibroblast epithelial cell growth, keratinocyte growth factor (KGF) having up to the first 24 N-terminal amino acids modified wherein cysteine residues corresponding to amino acid positions 1 and 15 of the KGF amino acid positions 32 and 46 of SEQ ID No:2 (Cys1 and , Cys15, respectively), are deleted or substituted with another amino acid. Also disclosed are nucleic acid molecules encoding such analogs as well as methods for using such analogs to stimulate non-fibroblast epithelial cell proliferation.

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 12, 1995 and granted December 9, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 12, 2015.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 12, 2017.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
