Abstract From the Canadian patent

An apparatus for measuring conductivity of earth formations penetrated by a wellbore including a magnet for inducing a static magnetic field in the earth formations penetrated by the wellbore. The apparatus includes means for generating a radio frequency magnetic field in the wellbore and the earth formations means for selectively, varying a frequency of the radio frequency magnetic field and means for receiving a, nuclear magnetic resonance signal from excited nuclei in the earth formations. The means for receiving includes means for measuring a difference in phase between the magnetic resonance signal and the radio frequency magnetic field. The phase difference measured is related to the …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 26, 1997 and granted December 10, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 26, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 26, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
