Abstract From the Canadian patent

This invention, when employed, will result in the elimination of specific contaminants, reduce heat and vapours from the emissions of an internal combustion engine. This system consists of a baffled heat exchanger which receives its cooling ability from the existing air conditioning unit of the automobile and drastically reduces the exhaust temperature so that vapours are condensed to a liquid and gases are cooled. The products of the cooling process can now be treated in the trap with a chemical which neutralizes the acids and removes exhaust residues. The liquid excess flows into a holding tank while the balance of the exhaust is then forced upwards through a chemical field extruding acid …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 17, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 17, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 17, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
