An air humidifier with a timer system connected to a circulating system allowing cyclical controlled water flow in a drain of the tank the latter being designed to receive the water. It contains a spongy absorbent material around the periphery of rotary drum preventing any accumulation of lime or other minerals in the water in the tank. The circulation system comprises valves which permit controlled water flow and prevents any continual flow of water through the drain in the event of stoppage of the humidifier in a position in which the drain is open. In addition the water can flow through this same drain in the event of an overflow in the tank.

Why it's free to use
- Filed March 14, 1997 and granted August 14, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 14, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 14, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
