Abstract From the Canadian patent

1. Optical 1×N and N×N switching matrix having a tree structure. 2.1 In the case of 1×N switching matrices having a tree structure, in which an optical input (1 0) is connected to N outputs (1 1) by means of an optical waveguide structure (1) which branches like a tree and in which an, optical changeover switch (4) is arranged in each junction point (3) of the waveguide structure it is intended, to improve the crosstalk suppression. 2.2 To this end in each case one gate switch (5) is, assigned to each output (1 1) for optional release and blocking of this output (1 1) as a function of a switching state of the changeover switch (4) of a junction point (3) from which a branching waveguide …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 13, 1995 and granted November 11, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 13, 2015.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 13, 2017.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
