Abstract From the Canadian patent

The present invention involves a composition and method for the determination of enzymatic activity or enzyme substrate concentration in a fluid test sample in which the enzyme catalyzes a reaction in a reagent system to provide a detectable response indicative of the concentration of the enzyme or enzyme substrate in the test sample. A measured amount of a protease capable of eliminating the enzymatic activity is included in the reagent composition, so that when a measured amount of test sample is treated, the reaction producing the detectable response will have a definite end point. Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 3, 1997 and granted July 22, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 3, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 3, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
