Abstract From the Canadian patent

The security system uses two-way audible type communication signals between a detector and a control panel. Each of these devices include microphones and processing arrangements for filtering the signals to recognize and evaluate the communication signals. The microphone of the control panel can preferably be part of an alarm detection and also part of a two-way voice communication with a monitoring station. This arrangement is convenient to install, reliable and cost effective. - 10 -

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 24, 1997 and granted April 16, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 24, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 24, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
