Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method and apparatus for detection of missing pulses from a repetitive pulse train including signal detection circuits for capturing the rising and/or falling edges of an input signal time-stamping the captured edges, calculating the maximum and minimum instantaneous frequency over a specified time period and displaying such frequency values. Instantaneous frequency values between any two adjacent edges are calculated based upon the time-stamps of the edges. The instantaneous frequency values in a specified time period are then sorted to find the minimum and maximum frequency values for that time period. These instantaneous frequency values are displayed in the form of a histogram …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 6, 1997 and granted August 21, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 6, 2017.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 6, 2019.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
