An ostomy appliance is provided in which a relatively stiff but still flexible thermoplastic convex pressure ring is utilized to bond a pouch and faceplate together to provide an integrated one-piece appliance. The pressure ring is directly bonded on its convex side to an adhesive faceplate and is also directly and permanently secured on its opposite side to a collection pouch. Only two annular attachment zones either in, the form of heat seals or adhesive seals are required to secure, the pouch, pressure ring and faceplate together. In a preferred embodiment, the pressure ring additionally functions as a belt-attachment ring.

Why it's free to use
- Filed January 7, 1997. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended January 7, 2017.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 7, 2019.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
