A device comprising an actuating cylinder (10) having a piston (14) arranged to be driven along a stroke path therewithin and a valve means (50) for controlling the flow of actuating fluid to a first side (20) of tile piston (14). This device is arranged such that upon actuation of the valve means (50) the flow of actuating fluid to tile first side (20) of the piston (14) is stopped and wherein the pressure of the actuating fluid on tile first side (20) of said piston (14) upon actuation of said valve means (50) is at least sufficient to substantially maintain tile piston (14) in a first predetermined position along the stroke path.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 11, 1995 and granted March 25, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 11, 2015.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 11, 2017.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
