Abstract From the Canadian patent

An operating mechanism for an expandable vehicle slide-out section includes a pair of inner rail members each being slidably supported in an outer rail member secured to the vehicle body. Each of the inner rail members has an outer end attachable to the slide-out section. A power drive arrangement includes a drive shaft operably connected with the inner rail members to synchronize travel of each of the inner rail members. A manual override system is adjustably mounted on the drive shaft to extend and retract the slide-out section should the power drive arrangement become inoperable.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 21, 1996 and granted March 6, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended November 21, 2016.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 21, 2018.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
