Abstract From the Canadian patent

The disclosure describes a flexible mounting system developed primarily for ring debarkers including a combination of free-swinging support links and pneumatic weight-compensation devices arranged so as to allow the set of debarking tools of the machine to move in any direction according to external forces resulting from the longitudinal feed movement or the irregular shape of the log.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 30, 1996 and granted August 17, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 30, 2016.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 30, 2018.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
