Abstract From the Canadian patent

A heating device (1) according to the present invention includes a substrate (2) made of a heat-resistant insulating material, a heating resistor layer (3) formed on the substrate (2) and a protective layer (6) formed on the substrate (2) to cover the heating resistor layer (3). The protective layer (6) is formed of glass to which alumina powder having a grain size of no greater than 5 µm is added. The addition proportion of alumina powder is 3-30Wt%, preferably 3-22Wt% and particularly 10-22Wt%. The addition of alumina powder remarkably increases the dielectric strength of the protective layer (6).

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 25, 1996 and granted November 23, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 25, 2016.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 25, 2018.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
