In an ion chromatographic method, a sample is passed through a separation column (158) and the effluent passed to a suppressor (162) and subsequently to a conductivity cell (168) for analysis. To regenerate the suppressor, deionized water is passed from a tank (176) through the suppressor (162) while a power supply (164) electrolyzes the deionized water to form ions which regenerate the suppressor (162).

Why it's free to use
- Filed February 29, 1996 and granted February 1, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 29, 2016.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 1, 2018.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
