A method and system (50) for tracking the position of a moving transmitter using angle of arrival measurements from direction finding antenna arrays (60 70). Each array, includes several elements (60A-60N 70A-70N), with the, elements grouped to provide subarrays of different element spacings which are multiple of one half the transmitter wavelength. Ambiguity is rejected by processing angle data received from the subarrays. The signals from the arrays are processed to convert electrical phase delay into spatial angles, the spatial angle data is processed to provide the x,y position, velocity and acceleration of the transmitter. For transmitters mounted in moving vehicles the system further …

Why it's free to use
- Filed September 27, 1996 and granted August 24, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 27, 2016.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 27, 2018.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
