Abstract From the Canadian patent

In three-dimensional seismic surveys using the Vibroseis system cost savings can, be made if multiple sources are used simultaneously into the same set of geophones. Each source radiates a distinctive source signal so that reflections generated by each, one may be separated from those generated by the others. These signals should have little or no correlation with each other and each should be substantially immune from harmonic distortion present in any of the others. The invention employs long but identical swept-frequency signals, for which the time to sweep through one octave exceeds twice the maximum seismic travel time of interest. For one swept-frequency signal a frequency-time space …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 17, 1996 and granted November 14, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 17, 2016.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 17, 2018.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
