Abstract From the Canadian patent

Cross-over modulation between radio frequency circuits and audio circuits is minimized in a wireless portable transceiver by locating all audio circuitry in a first section of the portable transceiver and all radio frequency circuitry in a second, separate section of the portable transceiver. In view of modality considerations in small portable transceivers an audio signal is either radiated or, received in the vicinity of the radio frequency circuitry. Isolation of the audio signal is achieved by routing this signal while in its acoustic form. Since audio signals in an electrical form are not routed around or near the radio frequency circuitry cross-, over modulation does not occur between …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 4, 1996 and granted August 29, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 4, 2016.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 4, 2018.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
