Machine and method for deep rolling fillets of split-pins of engine crankshafts. Each split-pin comprises neighboring and arcuately offset crank pins (24, 26) connected between counter weigths and has a centralized splitter fence (32) which receives side loads from the connecting rods. Annular fillets (38, 40) are formed between the pins and opposite sides of the splitter fence as well as (95 97) between the, pins and their associated counter weights. Limbs of the fillets at the splitter fence that describe the overlap of the split-pins are deep rolled with a higher load for improving yield strength.

Why it's free to use
- Filed January 18, 1996 and granted November 16, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 18, 2016.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 18, 2018.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
