Abstract From the Canadian patent

Polyepoxide-polyamine gas barrier coatings for use on packaging materials such as polymeric containers are provided with more stable low permeability at high humidity conditions by including high aromatic content in systems cured with a substantial excess of polyamine. The polyamine is an adduct of a polyamine having high aromatic content reacted with epichlorohydrin certain polyepoxides, novolac epoxy, resin bisphenof F epoxy resin, or formaldehyde/phenol Mannich bases. The polyamine adduct is cured with polyepoxide which also may have aromatic content, with the exclusion of bisphenol A epoxy resins.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 7, 1995 and granted September 21, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 7, 2015.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 7, 2017.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
