Abstract From the Canadian patent

Herein disclosed are a method and an apparatus for supplying an electrical energy to a pair of discharge electrodes spaced apart from each other to cause an electric discharge in a gap between the discharge electrodes. There are firstly provided an alternating voltage generator for generating as the electrical energy, an alternating voltage having a frequency and a capacitor connected to the discharge electrodes in series. The alternating voltage generator has a series resonant frequency. The alternating voltage of the alternating voltage generator is applied to the discharge electrodes through the capacitor. The frequency of the alternating voltage is set approximately to the series …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed August 21, 1996 and granted January 9, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 21, 2016.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 21, 2018.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
