The invention relates to a method of manufacturing tape tabs (21 23, 88, 93) for use in disposable absorbent articles (1) such as diapers. The method generally comprises steps of cutting unitary strip material (52 121) along parallel curved transverse cut lines (56 120) to produce tab shapes in the strip material (52 121) having rounded corners (77, 100, 108) doubling over the strip material (52, 121) onto itself to form gripping areas; and cutting the strip material along parallel cut lines (83 95, 96, 99, 98) which extend from the curved transverse cut lines (56, 120) to the longitudinal edge (60,119) to form individual tape tabs (21 23, 88, 93).

Why it's free to use
- Filed February 3, 1995 and granted August 22, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 3, 2015.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 3, 2017.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
