Abstract From the Canadian patent

A precast concrete grade crossing includes a plurality of base members (18) each of which has a central recess formed in the upper surface thereof. A pair of rails (12, 14) are each encased by a rubber boot (48) which extends through the crossing in a single continuous piece. The boot encased members are received in the recess which includes a shoulder (52) along the outer side of each rail (12 14). The, shoulder (52) bears against a lip (50) of the boot (48) which extends upwardly along outer side of the head of the rail (12) to prevent moisture from entering the space between the boot (48) and the rail (12) below the shoulder (52).

Why it's free to use

  • Filed January 5, 1995 and granted August 24, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 5, 2015.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 5, 2017.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
