Abstract From the Canadian patent

This invention relates generally to the preparation of large DNA molecules from cells which have been cast in agarose. Specifically the invention provides for a processing chamber that allows agarose plugs to be molded and processed within the same apparatus. This greatly reduces the amount of manipulation required of such DNA samples and reduces the loss of material due to agarose plug breakage.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 30, 1994. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 30, 2014.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 30, 2016.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
