Abstract From the Canadian patent

An expandable and collapsible shelter is formed from expandable and collapsible modules. Each module is formed from interconnected strut pairs pivotably attached at their ends to hub assemblies. The hub assemblies have outer and inner portions that are engageable and disengageable. A pair of struts is placed in a desired angular relationship by a first member for constraining a range of movement of the outer portions of the hub assemblies relative to one another and a releasable member for releasably constraining a range of movement of the inner portions of the hub assemblies relative to one another.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed November 10, 1994. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 10, 2014.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 10, 2016.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
