The present invention relates to a casting apparatus comprising a holding furnace (1) for holding a reservoir of molten material (2) at least, one smaller pumping furnace (3) also for holding a reservoir of molten material (4) and a casting cavity (6) connected to the pumping furnace (3) by one or more feed pipes (8). The pumping furnace is provided with means (7) for applying a pressure to force the molten material from the pumping furnace (3) into the casting cavity (6).
