Method and system for exploring for and extraction of raw materials, minerals or the like in soft ground in not readily accessible or impassable areas. Use is made of a guided horizontal drilling technique for reaching a place where there are deposits. During the drilling a hollow guide drill rod (20) with an open front end is pressed axially into the ground. In another embodiment coaxially around the guide drill rod a hollow wash drill rod (22) with an open front end is pressed into the ground.
