A head-mounted display system displays information via a matrix display element mounted within a housing that is positioned relative to at least eye of a user. The display is connected to a video or information source such that the user can view information or images shown on the display. The display can be mounted to a frame so that the user can move the display in and out of the user's field of view.

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 21, 1994. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 21, 2014.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 21, 2016.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
