Abstract From the Canadian patent

The invention concerns a friction drive for a transmission belt, the friction drive having a frictional roller (1) and a device (2, 3) for the control of the transmission belt (4) at a large angle of contact using two deflection elements (2, 3). In order to ensure low-slip operation whatever the required load, the friction drive experiences an increased frictional force between the transmission belt (4) and the frictional roller (1) by virtue of the fact that the deflection elements which guide the transmission belt round the frictional roller with a large angle of contact execute a motion relative to the frictional roller under the tensile strain which occurs in the working strand of the …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 4, 1994. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 4, 2014.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 4, 2016.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
