Improvements in non-invasive detection methods for glucose and other constituents of interest in a sample have been developed. The apparatus and methods of the invention provide an analog of color perception of human vision, preferably in the near infrared region replacing, spectrophotometers and narrow band sources used in other non-invasive near infrared detection methods. A plurality of detector units are used, each covering a broad and overlapping region of the detected spectrum paralleling, color perception and colorimetry. The improvements are primarily concerned with improving the signal-tobackground (or noise) ratio such that the data stream is improved. These improvements use …

Why it's free to use
- Filed September 26, 1994 and granted December 30, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 26, 2014.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 26, 2016.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
