A hand-held correction or mark-, ing material (20) comprises a solid synthetic material (26) containing a correction or marking material. The matrix is such that, when it is drawn over and in contact with a paper or similar surface, it deposits thereon as a thin dry coating which is immediately hard. The matrix can liquify temporarily in the contact area and then immediately resolidify in the form of the thin coating. The correction materials comprise an opacifier such as titanium dioxide, and the marking materials comprise a colored pigment or dye in the matrix.

Why it's free to use
- Filed September 28, 1994 and granted July 20, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 28, 2014.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 28, 2016.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
